Saxe Gotha Elementary Recognized for Student Achievement

Saxe Gotha, a Title I school, was recognized by the S.C. Department of Education for high student achievement.

Saxe Gotha Elementary School is one of six South Carolina Title I schools recognized for superior student achievement,Β the South Carolina Department of Education announced Wednesday.

This comes on the heels of the school receiving recognition as a Title I Reward School for Progress β€”Β a Title I school with the most substantial progress in either in the β€œall students” group or in identified subgroups from one school year to the next. That recognition was based on letter grade, free/reduced meal count greater than 50 percent and ranking as one of the top 10 percent of qualifying Title I schools demonstrating progress.

The S.C. Department of Education recognized Saxe Gotha as a 2012 Title I Reward School for Progress nominee. As a nominee, Saxe Gotha wins a $5,000 grant and will share their school’s best practices with other Title I schools at the South Carolina Association of Title I Administrators (SCATA) 2012 Fall Conference.

The school’s mission is β€œCreating a thirst for discovery and achievement by developing creative, compassionate and responsible young leaders.” Their vision is β€œBy nurturing the mind, body and spirit today, we will create the leaders and thinkers of tomorrow.”
