Saxe Gotha Elementary Students Take a Ride Through 'Safe and Sound Town'

Richland County Sheriff's deputies helped students learn important traffic and pedestrian safety lessons.

Saxe Gotha Elementary students recently traveled through "Safe and Sound Town" to learn important safety lessons.Β

As drivers in the town, students traveled on tricycles while Richland County Sheriff's deputies talked to the students about the importance of wearing helmets and seat belts, watching out for pedestrians and obeying traffic signals and signs. The deputies talked to the pedestrians walking through the town about how to safely cross the street, what side of the street to walk on and other important pedestrian safety tips.

After students completed their trip to "Safe and Sound Town," students received safety workbooks, badges and a certificate of completion. The Richland County Sheriff’s Department also donated bicycle helmets to the school.
