Sheriff: Lexington Man Stabs, Kills Brother

Lexington County Sheriff’s detectives arrested a 37-year-old Lexington man after they say he used a knife to fatally stab his 28-year-old brother early Wednesday during a dispute at a home on Crestwood Arch.

Thomas Joe Warren of 138 Crestwood Arch is charged with murder and possessing a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. 

Warren repeatedly stabbed his brother, Tommy Lee Warren Jr., in the chest around 12:16 a.m. Wednesday at the Crestwood Arch home, according to an arrest warrant.

Tommy Lee Warren Jr. died minutes after the stabbing, Lexington County Coroner Harry Harman said. The knife blade lacerated his heart, causing an extensive loss of blood.

The stabbing resulted from an on-going family dispute between the two brothers, Sheriff James R. Metts said. Deputies are still investigating the nature of the dispute.

Deputies who responded to the call found Tommy Lee Warren Jr. lying on his back just inside the front door at the Crestwood Arch home, Sheriff James R. Metts said. They also found a large amount of blood on the front porch and a large Bowie knife with blood on it on a table in a bedroom at the home.

Detectives interviewed Thomas Joe Warren at his Crestwood Arch home and later arrested him in connection with the fatal stabbing of his brother, Metts said.

Warren was being held on Wednesday at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing.
