Sheriff: Man Sold Stolen Truck to Metal Recycling Company
Deputies arrested Johnnie Wayne Martin Monday and charged him with obtaining property under false pretenses and receiving stolen goods.

Deputies arrested a 46-year-old man Monday who they say sold a stolen truck to a metal recycling company.Β
Johnnie Wayne Martin of Lexington is charged with obtaining property under false pretenses and receiving stolen goods, according to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.
Deputies say Martin took possession of aΒ 1994 GMC Sierra pickup truck on August 10 that was later reported stolen to the sheriff's department.Β

Martin then took the truck to CMC Recycling and told them it was his, according to the sheriff's department. He sold the truck for $481.75. The recycling company crushed the truck, which was worth $1,400.
The owner of the truck reported it stolen on August 11, the day after it was crushed, according to the sheriff's department. The woman told deputies that the truck wasn't in operating condition and had been parked in yard of a home she owns on Longview Street in Lexington. The woman doesn't live at the Longview Street home.

Martin was arrested Monday after a Lexington County Sheriff's deputy saw him driving on Edmund Highway near Lexington, according to the sheriff's department. The deputy recognized Martin as a person with outstanding arrest warrants with the sheriff's department.
The deputy arrested Martin around 4:42 p.m. Monday. He was released from the Lexington County Detention Center Tuesday after posting a bail totaling $5,000.Β
