Sheriff: Man Stole 3 Vehicles, Sold Them as Scrap Metal
Deputies arrested a West Columbia man and charged him with grand larceny.

Deputies arrested at 31-year-old West Columbia man Wednesday after they say he stole three vehicles from a business on Corley Mill Road and sold them to a metal recycling company.Â
Saul Edward Saylors, 31, is charged with grand larceny involving property worth between $2,000 and $10,000.
Saylors started removing two cars and a truck from the Corley Mill Road business around 9:55 a.m. on August 23, according to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department. He hired a towing service to take the three vehicles — worth $2,750 — to CMC Recycling at 2308 Two Notch Road in Lexington.

The stolen vehicles were a 1986 Ford F-250 pickup truck, 1982 Mercedes 300 sedan and 1977 American Gremlin sedan.
Saylors sold the vehicles for $924 sometime between 11:24 a.m. and 2:04 p.m., according to the sheriff's department. Workers at the recycling company crushed the cars and the truck that same day.

The cars were reported stolen on August 24. Deputies obtained a search warrant and arrested Saylors.Â
Saylors was released from the Lexington County Detention Center Thursday after he posted a $5,000 bond.
