Sheriff: Man Stole Drum Set Stand, Scuba Gear

Johnny Paul Hill, 29, is charged with second-degree burglary after deputies say he broke into a home near Gilbert.

Deputies arrested a 29-year-old man Saturday after they say he stole a drum set stand, scuba gear and tools from a home on A.C. Bouknight Road near Gilbert.

Johnny Paul Hill of Gilbert is charged with second-degree burglary, petit larceny and posessing tools that could be used for a crime, according to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies say Hill broke into the ome around 8 a.m. Saturday. A man saw Hill standing in the yard with a pile of items on the grass and alerted the homeowner, according to the sheriff's department. The homeowner reported the incident.

When deputies arrived, they detained Hill in the back yard of the house. Hill hadΒ one Phillips-head screwdriver,Β one flat-head screwdriver, one paint scraper, one fixed-blade knife and one Exacto knife with him that deputies believe he used to pry open the back door of the house.Β 

Deputies also say Hill entered an unlocked shed at the back of the house and took a 6-foot wooden ladder worth about $400. They recovered the ladder.

Deputies also found the stolen scuba gear worth about $400 and the drum set stand worth about $1,000 behind the shed at the rear of the house.Β 

Hill is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center on a bail totaling $9,630.
