Sheriff's Department Donates More Than 500 Coats for Children
Lexington Interfaith Community Services (LICS) and His House Ministries will distribute the coats to children in need in Lexington County.

Deputies and officers with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department recently donated 580 new and lightly-used winter coats for children in need.Â
The coats were collected during the third annual Coats for Kids Drive. Lexington Interfaith Community Services (LICS) and His House Ministries will distribute the coats to children in Lexington County.Â
A total of 18 sweater caps, 14Â scarves, 19 pairs of winter gloves and eight pairs of winter socks also will be donated to children.

Three Fountains Resident Deputy Stacey Gadson coordinated the Coats for Kids drive.Â
Faculty, students and staff at Rocky Creek Elementary School and Pleasant Hill Middle School participated in the Coats for Kids drive. The Lexington County Solid-Waste Management Division, Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission, Tri-City Leisure Center and residents in the Timberlake subdivision near Chapin also participated in the Coats for Kids drive.

Deputies also delivered 1,387 pounds of non-perishable food items to
LICS that were donated as part of the annual Holiday Food and Toy Drive that the sheriff’s department conducts. Deputies also delivered 93 pairs of new shoes, 22 boxes of diapers, new holiday decorations, two new, artificial Christmas trees and 10 lightly used bicycles that LICS will distribute to persons in Lexington County who are in need of assistance.
