Sheriff's Department Employee's Husband Arrested

Deputies arrested Charles Alton Morehouse Monday on narcotics charges. His wife has been suspended with pay.

Officers arrested a Lexington man Monday after they say he distributed cocaine to an informant working with narcotics officers as part of an undercover investigation. 

Charles Alton "Charlie" Morehouse, 37, of Willow Forks Road in Lexington, is charged with distribution of cocaine and is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing. 

Morehouse is the husband of Crystal Morehouse, who serves as an administrative assistant for Lexington County Sheriff Metts, according to the sheriff's department. Officers found no information that she was involved in or had knowledge of her husband's alleged involvement in drug deals, but Metts placed her on administrative leave with pay after her husband's arrest.

Officer with the Lexington County Multi-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team arrested Charlie Morehouse around 2 p.m. outside his house, according to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department. 

A confidential informant told officers that he knew someone who distributed cocaine, according to the sheriff's department. They arranged an undercover investigation, according to the sheriff's department, and on Nov. 2, Morehouse distributed cocaine to the confidential informant.
