Three Forums Planned for Lexington One School Board Candidates

Lexington One School Improvement Councils are hosting three "Meet the Candidate" forums in October.

Lexington residents can meet the 12 candidates running for the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees at three forums this month.Β 

The School Improvement Councils are hosting the forums so that parents, staff and other community members have a chance to meet the candidates before the Nov. 6 election.

Four seats on the school board are up for election. All the seats are at-large.

Board members Albert J. Dooley Jr. and D.F. Shumpert III are retiring from the school board after serving 16 and 13 years respectively. Two other incumbents, Cynthia S. Smith and G. Edwin Harmon,Β Ph.D., are running for re-election.

Meet the Candidates at Gilbert High School

Date: Thursday, Oct. 11

Time: 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Where: Gilbert High School Commons Area

Format: Candidates will have a few minutes to introduce themselves. Then attendees can meet and talk with the candidates individually.

Meet the Candidates at Pleasant Hill Middle School

Date:Β Thursday, Oct. 18

Time:Β 6:30 p.m.

Where:Β Pleasant Hill Middle School Commons Area

Format:Β Candidates will introduce themselves, give biographical information and answer questions pulled randomly.
