West Columbia Man Charged with Tax Evasion
Jeffrey A. Davis is charged with income tax evasion and failure to file taxes, according to the S.C. Department of Revenue.

A West Columbia man was arrested over the weekend and charged with two counts of income tax evasion and one count of failure to file taxes.
Jeffrey A. Davis failed to file a South Carolina income tax return in 2008 for wages earned, even though his income was in excess of the minimum filing requirements, according to a press release from the S.C. Department of Revenue.
During 2010 and 2011, Davis, who is currently employed by Palmetto Health, evaded income taxes by failing to file S.C. tax returns, according to the release. Davis also filed with his employer employee withholding allowance certificates claiming exempt status.

If convicted of the charges, Davis faces up to 11 years in prison and/or $30,000 in fines. Davis’ tax liability for 2008, 2010 and 2011 totals $5,860.00.
