West Columbia Woman Charged with Wire, Credit Card Fraud

A federal grand jury in Columbia indicted Karen M. Williamson on 14 charges Tuesday.

A West Columbia woman was indicted on charges of wire fraud and credit card fraud in federal court in Columbia Tuesday.

Karen M. Williamson, 45, was charged with 13 counts of wire fraud and one count of credit card fraud, according to a press release from the office of U.S. Attorney Bill Nettles.

The maximum penalty Williamson could receive is 20 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.

The case was investigated by the United States Secret Service and is assigned to Assistant United States Attorney T. DeWayne Pearson of the Columbia office for prosecution.
