Man Receives Five Years in Summerville Hit-and-Run

A five-year sentence was issued for a man charged with a hit-and-run that injured four children in Summerville last August.

Phillip Andrew Wucherer appeared in court Thursday and pleaded guilty to two counts of leaving the scene of an accident causing great bodily injury. Wucherer's attorney told WCSC the sentence was a "fair resolution."

Wucherer was charged with three counts of leaving the scene of a collision involving great bodily injury, and one count of leaving the scene of a collision involving personal injury, in a wreck Aug. 25 on Paddock Way.

Investigators say the four injured children snuck out of a home in the Sangaree subdivision that evening.

Wucherer has served 199 days in jail.
