Sewer Overflow May Affect Summerville Waterways

Waterways affected could include Chandler Bridge Creek, Eagle Creek and portions of the Ashley River.

A Sunday sewer overflow has possibly contaminated three Summerville waterways, according to Summerville CPW.

The agency experienced a sanitary sewer overflow Sunday afternoon along Chandler Creek near Brailsford Drive in the Greenhurst Subdivision. There was a high volume of overflow released from a broken gravity main south of Miles-Jamison Road. Crews completed the necessary repairs Monday afternoon.

However, the spill entered Chandler Bridge Creek near Greenhurst Subdivision. Chandler Bridge Creek, Eagle Creek and possibly portions of the Ashley River will be affected by this spill. Area residents should avoid any contact with the water in these areas for the next few days.
