Summerville One Step Closer to Regulating Fireworks

Ordinance will set hours banning the firing of fireworks in town.

Summerville Town Council has voted unanimously on an ordinance that will limit the setting off of fireworks in town limits, the Post and Courier reported.

The ordinance would ban setting off fireworks between 10 p.m. and 10 a.m. except on New Year's Eve and July 4. The ordinance also bans shooting fireworks onto a neighbor's or public property. Violators could receive a $500 fine or 30 days in jail.

Council needs to hold another vote for the ordinance to go into effect.
