Suspected Embezzlement Uncovered at County Detention Center

During a random, internal audit conducted at the Dorchester County Detention Center, it was discovered that an unknown amount of funds were missing in a Dorchester County Detention Center account. 

According to a Dorchester County Sheriff's Office release, Sheriff L.C. Knight requested that SLED conduct an investigation. The incident report is dated Aug. 1.

At this time suspects are unknown and the exact amount of missing funds are unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
