When Will Mark Sanford and Maria Chapur Marry?

Maria Chapur joined fiance Mark Sanford at his SC1 victory party in Mount Pleasant.

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC — Looking forward to Congressman-elect Mark Sanford's wedding to Maria Belen Chapur of Argentina?

Chapur wasn't quite ready to announce any wedding plans when she arrived at her fiance's victory party Tuesday in Mount Pleasant.

"We're just celebrating tonight," she told Patch.

In Sanford's acceptance speech, he thanked his fiancee for making a 10-hour trip from Argentina. Watch his acceptance video here.

. If Sanford and Chapur tie the knot while he's in office, Sanford won't be the first Congressman to marry after being elected. Most recently, in December 2012, Congressman-elect Joe Kennedy III married.

Chapur made Time's list of Top 10 Mistresses of All Time for her extramarital affair with the then-married S.C. governor. In 2009, Sanford went missing from the state for six days. His staff had said he was "hiking the Appalachian Trail" (a phrase now widely used, usually accompanied by air quotes). It was later learned he was in Argentina with Chapur, who he would later call his "soul mate" in a surprisingly candid press conference.

Sanford later divorced his wife, Jenny. There is a court hearing in Charleston County Thursday as Jenny Sanford has accused Mark Sanford of trespassing on her property. The couple have four children together.

Chapur and Sanford were engaged in August 2012.

Chapur is one of three Argentineans in the news lately — the Catholic Pope and the newly crowned Queen of the Netherlands are both Argentineans.
