Environmental advocates are urging careful land-use decisions, and residents can share their views at a public meeting Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Colleton County Civic Center.

• Aiken LEGO robotics team places in the top 10 at recent competition (postandcourier.com) — Walterboro recently hosted a statewide FIRST LEGO League competition at Colleton County Middle School, where Aiken County’s Technical Platypus team placed ninth out of 24 teams. The middle schoolers spent months designing and programming their robot and researching archaeology challenges, even proposing a drone-based solution to protect field researchers from stinging insects and dangerous animals.

• Yemassee man convicted of killing woman in restaurant parking lot shooting (counton2.com) — A Yemassee man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for murdering a woman in the parking lot of the Barrel House Grille on Robertson Boulevard in Walterboro. Prosecutors say the 2023 shooting endangered others nearby, and another suspect still faces murder charges in the case.
