A Sioux Falls Payroll Vault owner pays it forward to local small businesses by treating fellow entrepreneurs and local senior citizens to a special surprise delivery.

To celebrate Small Business Month, local Payroll Vault franchise owner Paula Johnson, is using her small business to celebrate other local small businesses with a Small Business Giveback. The celebration honors local business heroes. As part of the festivities, Johnson surprised two locally owned businesses in the Sioux Falls area.

Kore Cares In-Home Services received a gourmet cupcake delivery to treat every member of their team. Kore Care is dedicated to providing home care and care connection services for adults, particularly the elderly.

β€œThis local small business helps us care for our parents and keeps them in their home when we are away,” Johnson said. β€œThis is our way of saying thank you and recognizing small businesses who are taking the chance, following their passion, and providing us the opportunity to reap the benefits from the products and services they offer.”

To further show her support of small businesses, Johnson also catered breakfast and lunch from local restaurant The Goat Bar & Grill to feed seniors at the Senior Citizens Center in Hartford. Payroll Vault Sioux Falls covered the cost of the meals for 178 people. Volunteers from the senior center also delivered meals to seniors who are homebound.

Small Businesses are Resilient

Despite a turbulent two years, small businesses are thriving in the United States. Small businesses take challenges, such as the outbreak of the pandemic, labor shortages, and inflation, in stride. They resiliently find a way to cope and continue supporting the members of their local community. Take a look at their impact by the numbers:

  • There are 32.5 million small businesses in the United States.
  • Small businesses account for 44% of all U.S. economic activity.
  • They created 12.9 million new jobs in the U.S. over the past 25 years
  • There are more than 11.7 female-owned businesses in the U.S.

Like many entrepreneurs, being a part of a franchise is helping Johnson live the American dream. Payroll Vault is a payroll services and workforce management solution for local businesses. Franchising enabled Johnson to tackle a business with a proven track record of success and the support she needed to thrive. Taking this opportunity to express her gratitude for other entrepreneurs with a Small Business Giveback is a fitting way to celebrate her fellow small business owners.

β€œBeing a small business owner is perhaps one of the toughest jobs, but it’s also one of the most rewarding,” Johnson added. β€œWe all get pretty tied up in the day-to-day of running our businesses and we often forget to take a step back and remember to celebrate and thank others that have been a help to us along the way. We really do appreciate our small business owners and we just wanted to let them know!”

Johnson feels she is living her best life by running her own small business β€” part of that dream is using her business for good!
