November 8, 2021
In an effort to reduce barriers and increase COVID-19 vaccination rates, the Sioux Falls Health Department is establishing a mobile vaccine outreach program. This program, which was created through a partnership with the City of Sioux Falls Planning & Development Services and Sioux Area Metro, will bring mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinics to locations across the community.

“While COVID-19 vaccines are available across the community through pharmacies and healthcare providers, the mobile vaccine outreach program will help bring the vaccines to people who might otherwise experience barriers due to information and scheduling challenges,” said Dr. Charles Chima, Public Health Director for the City of Sioux Falls.
The Health Department’s vaccine outreach program will deliver COVID-19 vaccines through the use of pop-up vaccination clinics hosted at local businesses and City-owned facilities and through the use of a mobile vaccine bus.

“This mobile vaccination partnership is a great opportunity for the transit system to help increase vaccination rates by taking vaccination clinics to the people,” said Sam Trebilcock, Senior Planner with the City’s Planning & Development Services.
Robert Speeks, General Manager for Sioux Area Metro, said, “Sioux Area Metro, the City of Sioux Falls, and the Federal Transit Administration are strong supporters of COVID vaccination partnerships.”
Demographic data and vaccination rates, as well as input from community partners, was used to select vaccination locations. Initial vaccination clinics are scheduled for the following dates and locations:
Physicians will be available at the outreach clinics to answer any questions from the public. This will be an opportunity to address your questions about COVID-19 vaccines directly to a local physician.
Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be available at all locations. People 12 years of age and older are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Vaccine is free and proof of identification is not required. The bus used for this program is ADA accessible and interpreter services will be available.
