The Western Mall: Successful since 1968 (keloland.com) — Sioux Falls’ Western Mall, the state’s first enclosed retail center, is still drawing shoppers, families, and dedicated mall walkers nearly six decades after opening. Tenants from theaters to resale shops say updated facilities, family-friendly activities, and supportive neighbors keep this 41st Street landmark thriving and central to the city’s retail life. 
2. Another big weekend ahead for Augustana Hockey team with Omaha at MIDCO Arena (dakotanewsnow.com) — Augustana’s hockey team returns to MIDCO Arena in Sioux Falls this weekend after a huge series against CCHA leader MSU-Mankato, where they grabbed five of six possible points. The Vikings, still unbeaten at home and tied for 20th nationally, will host Omaha in crucial non-conference games that could shape their national rankings and keep local fans buzzing.
3. Someone You Should Know: Promoter of the beef industry (dakotanewsnow.com) — A longtime beef advocate is helping ensure more protein reaches families through Feeding South Dakota’s Sioux Falls facility, where much of the donated beef is sorted and distributed. As president of the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Foundation, he’s led millions in donations, scholarships, and the annual Primetime Gala to support both producers and hungry neighbors statewide.
4. How to help get gifts under the tree for kids (keloland.com) — Families in Sioux Falls can still help the Jaycees Holiday Gifts for Kids program reach its goal of serving about 600 families and 2,100 children this Christmas. Volunteers are especially seeking toys for teens ages 14–18 and babies under one, which will be sorted and distributed from the Jaycees’ Sioux Falls office to brighten the holidays for kids in need.
5. 15 students to graduate from University Honors Program (unl.edu) — A Sioux Falls student, Ava Watkins, is among 15 seniors earning University Honors from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, achieving the program’s Highest University Honors in the College of Business. The list highlights top academic performers from Nebraska and several neighboring states.
