- The City of Chattanooga has reported filling 5,758 potholes since March. That number accounts for about 90 percent of the city's potholes. The city's pothole system is now proactive in its activity instead of relying on complaints to drive the repair process. The city plans to patch all potholes by the fall. - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is ramping up its lead-contaminated soil clean-up efforts in Chattanooga. The agency toured a number of sites throughout Alton Park and Highland Park last week. The agency is also alerting residents by making door-to-door contact. The soil has been contaminated by foundries that operated until the 1980s. The clean-up operation will dig up contaminated soil and then haul it away. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)
