🌱 Chattanooga Gas Prices Fall + Property Tax Rate Increase List

Here are the top three stories today in Chattanooga:

  1. Gas prices in Tennessee have fallen below $4.00 per gallon. The average price in Tennessee is now $3.93 and the average in Chattanooga is now $3.81 per gallon. The price decrease is a result of a decrease in fuel demand and lower oil prices. (Chattanooga Pulse)
  2. An 18-year-old has been charged with five felonies and four misdemeanors in connection with the shooting that occurred on Brainerd Road on Jun. 28. A woman was left in critical condition as a result of the incident. Vicent Kennedy was indicted on Jul. 19 and is being held on a $525,000 bond at the Silverdale Detention Center. He will appear in front of Hamilton County Criminal Court Judge Don W. Poole on Friday. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)
  3. Data analysis by Agent Advice has listed Chattanooga on a list of metros with the fastest-growing property taxes as number four. The average property tax in 2020 was $1,411 in Chattanooga and in 2021, it was $1,721. That is a 22 percent increase. The no. 1 spot was given to Lancaster, Pennsylvania with a 29 percent increase.   • Bike Chattanooga will be celebrating its 10th anniversary with a free group bike ride on Jul. 28. The ride starts at 6:45 p.m. on Broad Street. (Bike Chattanooga)
