- A Komatsu worker was hit by a truck while crossing Signal Mountain Road early Monday morning, according to the Chattanooga Police Department. A CPD representative reported the victim was rushed to a local hospital with "major trauma." Police said the driver of the truck stopped after the collision and answered the officers' questions. (WTVC)
- Gas prices in Chattanooga continue to fall, dropping 14 cents per gallon over the last week and standing 51.8 cents per gallon lower than this time last month. According to price reports from GasBuddy, Chattanooga's cheapest gas station was priced at $2.48 per gallon as of Sunday, Dec. 11; the most expensive was $2.99 per gallon. This local pattern is consistent with national trends, with average diesel prices falling in 49 states over the last week. (Chattanooga Pulse)
- Five attorneys, including Chattanooga's Michael Richardson and Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals Judge Tom Greenholtz, are seeking to fill an anticipated vacancy on the Supreme Court. Richardson is an alumnus of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) and worked in several Chattanooga-based law firms before becoming a solo practitioner. Greenholtz received his bachelor's degree from UTC in 1996 and previously served as the law clerk for former Justice William M. Barker, also of Chattanooga. All five candidates will be considered by the Governor's Council for Judicial Appointments at a Jan. 4 meeting; any interested individuals are invited to attend the public hearing.
