(newschannel9.com) — Chattanooga police are warning online buyers that you can be charged and lose both the item and your money if you knowingly purchase stolen goods through sites like Facebook Marketplace. They’re also urging residents to use the Safe Exchange Zone at the Police Services Center on Amnicola Highway to reduce robbery risks, and to follow simple precautions and BBB tips to avoid scams and dangerous meetups.
   

2. $1M excessive force lawsuit filed against Chattanooga, police officers, chief (timesfreepress.com) — Chattanooga faces a federal lawsuit seeking at least $1 million over a 2024 police shooting of a man in apparent mental health crisis, alleging excessive force and inadequate training. City officials and officers are named as defendants, while the district attorney previously ruled the shooting justified and the city now has limited time to formally respond.

Salvation Army hosts Christmas brunch for unhoused community (wdef.com) — Chattanooga’s Salvation Army hosted a Christmas brunch today for unhoused neighbors, offering hot food, backpacks of essentials, and a sense of community at 800 McCallie Ave. Staff and volunteers emphasized dignity, safety, and year-round help with homelessness, rent, utilities, and support for anyone in need across Greater Chattanooga.
   

4. Southside Chattanooga townhome project resumes following lawsuit and foreclosure sale (timesfreepress.com) — Work is set to restart in January on the long-stalled Andrews Station townhome project in Chattanooga’s East Main Street corridor after Collier Construction bought the property in a foreclosure sale. Plans now call for 45 smaller, two-story units aimed at first-time buyers, with sales expected by spring and move-ins by early summer alongside the future East Line urban trail.
   

5. Tennessee Football Makes Cut For Elite Running Back, Top Player in Volunteer State (rockytopinsider.com) — A standout running back at Chattanooga’s Baylor School, David Gabriel Georges, has named Tennessee among his top college choices after a dominant, state-title season. The five-star junior, fresh off a huge performance against rival McCallie, is now one of the Vols’ most coveted 2027 recruits, drawing attention from national powers like Georgia and Ohio State.
