Here are the top three stories today in Chattanooga:

  1. Chattanooga musician Jamaal Hicks is hosting a school supplies distribution event on Saturday, Jul. 30. The Children Are Our Future event will be giving school supplies at the Muscle Movers Thrift Store on Brainerd Road from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The community is encouraged to donate supplies to Habitat for Humanity on East Main for the event.   2. The U.S. Coast Guard plans to conduct a drill operation on the Tennessee River in Chattanooga this morning (Jul. 19). The large-scale maritime incident-readiness drill will be at the Riverpark boat ramp. The drill trains local law enforcement and fire rescue crews to respond to regional maritime incidents. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)
  3. The Chattanooga Police Department is still searching for a carjacking suspect. The department responded to an incident in the 1200 block and the car was later recovered in the 2900 block of East 40th. The suspect fled from the incident and is likely a white male in his early 20s. Anyone with information on the suspect is encouraged to contact the department. (WDEF News 12)
