Here are the top three stories today in Chattanooga:
- STEM School Chattanooga's Kristin Burrus is one of the finalists for the state's Teacher of the Year award. Burrus is one of nine educators in the final selection process. The winner will be recognized during a banquet in the fall. Burrus and the other finalists will serve on the state's Teacher Advisory Council to provide vital feedback for the upcoming school year. - The proposed special tax district for the new Chattanooga Lookouts stadium has expanded. The district is currently at 470 acres — significantly higher than the previous 120 acres. The district will finance the new stadium's estimated $80 million price tag. The proposed district would reportedly cover about 58 percent of the cost. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)
- Volkswagen Chattanooga is now producing the ID-4. The new vehicle is the car manufacturer's first all-electric vehicle. It operates using a 400-volt lithium-ion battery. The ID-4 will have a range of 260 miles between charges. The plant is currently expanding its workforce to accommodate the new assembly line, with about 500 jobs still open. (WDEF News 12)
