2. Salvation Army receives $30,000 kettle match from Ballad Health (johnsoncitypress.com) — Johnson City’s Salvation Army center is receiving a share of a $30,000 holiday kettle match from Ballad Health, helping fund shelter and meals for local residents. Last year the center provided over 16,000 nights of stay and 44,000 meals, and this season it’s also delivering Christmas aid to 777 children plus food support for more than 600 seniors and families.
   

3. Jamaican immigrant sentenced on drug charges, failing to leave U.S. (johnsoncitypress.com) — Johnson City residents are learning more about a major federal drug case tied to local arrests and addresses in the city. A man has received over 24 years in prison after Johnson City police and federal agents linked him and two others to large meth and cocaine shipments discovered in 2022 and 2024. One co-defendant has already been sentenced, with another due in early 2026.
   

4. We Salute You: December 2025 (wcyb.com) — One of the veterans honored in this month’s regional “We Salute You” feature is Audrey Hill of Johnson City recognized on December 11. The list highlights service members from across Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, and invites families to submit more local veterans for future recognition.
