TN Sheriff Says 3 Inmates Escaped Through HVAC Vent: Report

Three inmates from the Sullivan County Jail escaped through an air vent over the weekend and are on the run, possibly in Virginia.

BLOUNTVILLE, TN β€” The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office said three inmates who escaped from the Sullivan County Jail over the weekend did so through an air vent, according to a report from WCYB.

Captain Andy Seabolt told the station the inmates accessed the vent through the ceiling in their cell.

The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office identified the three escaped inmates as Tobias Wayne Carr, 38, Johnny Shane Brown, 50, and Timothy Allen Sarver, 45.

The trio escaped Friday morning, and authorities believe they are driving a 2001 white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with Tennessee registration 830GSD. The inmates are likely near Pulaski, Virginia, after the truck was believed to be spotted in the New River Valley area, according to authorities.

A $7,500 reward for each inmate is being offered by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations for information leading to their arrests. TBI and the U.S. Marshals Service are assisting in the search for the inmates.
