University Launches New ETSU Heroes Program
The purpose of the program is to recognize and reward outstanding members of the university community.

JOHNSON CITY β East Tennessee State University has launched a new
program, known as ETSU Heroes, to recognize and reward outstanding members of the
university community. Up to six members of the ETSU community will be acknowledged
each year in an annual ceremony. The inaugural ETSU Heroes Recognition Ceremony will
take place on Wednesday, March 30.

The ETSU Heroes program is intended to recognize role models within the ETSU community
who embody excellence and have contributed significant and innovative accomplishments
to the university and the region. ETSU Heroes may be nominated by any peer in the
ETSU community.
βA Hero may be known by many or work behind the scenes to advance our mission to improve
the lives of people across the region,β said Brian Noland, the president of ETSU.

At the recognition ceremony, the selected ETSU Heroes will receive an ETSU Heroes
medallion and a cash award provided by the ETSU Foundation. Following the ceremony,
the stories of the selected ETSU Heroes will be shared and celebrated across campus.
Nominations are open through Friday, February 4. Online submissions are recommended.
ETSU faculty and staff are eligible for nomination, including those employed by organizations
adjacent to the university, including Sodexo, ETSU Health, and Follett. ETSU students
are not eligible for nomination except through a position of employment with the university.
After the close of the nomination period, the nominees will be reviewed by a selection
committee. After review, up to six nominees will be selected for the ETSU Heroes award.
