The future of Memphis is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders like Tori Eddie, who are making a positive impact in and around Memphis.

Tori, a 2021 graduate of White Station High School in Memphis and current senior at Southern University and A&M College at Baton Rouge, is making significant strides in the field of agricultural science. In 2023, Tori was awarded a $7,500 scholarship from the Memphis City Council HBCU Scholarship Fund, recognizing her dedication and academic excellence. She was one of 84 recipients who collectively received $448,200 to support their education at historically Black colleges and universities.

Tori’s passion for agricultural science is evident in her hands-on experiences. As a junior, she interned with the USDA in Booneville, Arkansas, where she worked closely with sheep and cattle to perform basic care and pregnancy checks. She also had the opportunity to collaborate with researchers like Dr. Joan Burke on an in vitro parasitic study for sheep, further expanding her knowledge and skills in animal science research.
