3. 2% raise for Memphis firefighters approved by city council (fox13memphis.com) — Memphis firefighters are set to receive a 2% pay raise after the Memphis City Council approved the increase, restoring the full 5% Mayor Paul Young originally proposed. The move is expected to resolve a lawsuit from the firefighters union and follows weeks of debate among council members over how to balance the budget and labor concerns.

Some Hispanic, Latino businesses adapt as task force, ICE operations keep community home (actionnews5.com) — Hispanic and Latino business owners in Memphis are seeing emptier parking lots and fewer customers as Memphis Safe Task Force and ICE operations keep many families at home. Community leaders say fear and paranoia are growing, but local shops are adapting with delivery, to-go orders, and stronger social media outreach to keep serving customers while residents stay cautious.
   

5. Community members lend helping hand to retired Memphis police officer needing home repairs (fox13memphis.com) — Memphis neighbors and fellow officers are rallying to help retired MPD officer Ronald Taylor after an internet scam and insurance issues left him with a collapsed ceiling and a badly needed new roof. The Memphis Police Association and local businesses are coordinating donations and repairs so he isn’t facing winter weather with a hole over his head.
