The issue revives ongoing concerns about how a key county office serving Memphis-area residents is managing money and transparency, with veteran local government reporter and native Memphian Bill Dries tracking the latest developments.
   

2. Local church provides Christmas gifts for community members in need (fox13memphis.com) — A Memphis congregation is rallying this week to buy and wrap Christmas gifts for local children whose families are struggling to afford rent, food, and presents. Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church’s Giving Tree has already helped thousands, and this year volunteers are even delivering gifts to youth at Hope Academy. A Sunday fundraiser concert will support the effort.
   

3. Beale Street performer killed in shooting, family seeks donations for funeral (actionnews5.com) — A beloved Beale Street Flippers performer, Tajuan Todd, was shot and killed Friday evening at a home in South Memphis, and his family has launched a GoFundMe for funeral costs. Friends say his death is a major loss for Memphis tourism and Beale Street, where he entertained crowds and even performed at Grizzlies games.
   

4. Third suspect accused of murder after man set up, killed over stolen gun (wreg.com) — A third suspect has been arrested in connection with a February shooting outside a South Memphis home that left Adrien Prewitt dead, after investigators say he was lured out over a stolen gun. Authorities allege 23-year-old Dande Ashby acted as a second shooter, while two 19-year-olds are already jailed on murder and robbery charges tied to the setup and ambush.
   

5. Memphis woman to celebrate 100 years, joins Century Club (wreg.com) — A longtime Memphis resident, Clara Tragesser, is being honored by the City of Memphis as its newest Century Club member as she prepares to turn 100 on December 28. The city’s Century Club recognizes residents 100 and older with a mayoral letter and commemorative certificate, celebrating their memories, service, and legacy in Memphis and surrounding West Tennessee communities.
