12-Year-Old Arrested For Attempted Carjacking

A 12-year-old boy is accused of trying to carjack at 51-year-old Mt. Juliet woman in Midtown Monday.

NASHVILLE, TN -- Metro Police arrested a 12-year-old boy for an attempted carjacking Monday night.

A 51-year-old Mt. Juliet woman said she was sitting in her car at the intersection of 10th Avenue and Church Street around 9 p.m. waiting for her daughter to finish a dance class. She said two boys came to the passenger side of her car, knocked on the window with a pistol and then pointed it at her, with one yelling "Give me your car, don't make me shoot you."

The woman drove away and then called 911. She and a witness both identified the 12-year-old, according to police.

Police say the boy lied several times before admitting his real name. He is charged with attempted aggravated robbery, gun possession during a felony and criminal impersonation.

They are still searching for the second person involved and for the gun.
