230 Guns Stolen From Cars In Nashville This Year: Police
An average of more than 1.3 guns per day have been stolen from vehicles in Metro Nashville this year, police say.

NASHVILLE, TN --- Every 17 hours, a gun is stolen from inside a car in Davidson County, according to Metro Nashville Police statistics.
MNPD says 230 guns have been taken during car break-ins in 2018, an average of more than 1.3 per day. The thefts have hit all eight precincts and "many of the vehicles were left unlocked," according to the department.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives raised the specter of increased firearm theft after a rash of gun store break-ins last year, saying that the illegal gun pipeline was starting to flood the streets with weapons, which are often traded for drugs or cash.
Metro Police said Nashvillians in general should be locking their cars and in particular, firearms owners should take necessary precautions with their weapons.
