3 Escape From Troubled Juvenile Facility

Three teenage detainees fled from the former Woodland Hills Youth Detention Facility, site of a massive escape in 2014.

NASHVILLE, TN — Three teenagers escaped from a North Nashville juvenile detention facility Sunday night, though all three were recovered inside 24 hours.

According to Metro police, Ezekio Fields, 17; Hunter Hackney, 17; and Laterrio Woods, 16, escaped from the Gateway to Independence facility on Stewarts Lane on Sunday night. Police say the trio broke a window around 7:45 p.m. and then fled the grounds. Field was captured at a house on Panorama Drive shortly before 9 a.m. About 90 minutes later, Woods and Hackney were apprehended near a tree-line on Hinkle Drive.

Gateway To Independence is the name of what used to be the Woodland Hills Youth Detention Facility, where 32 detainees attacked guards and escaped in 2014. That widespread break-out was followed by two more large-scale escapes in the weeks following.
