Here are the top three stories in Nashville today:
- Over the past few years, Nashville has developed a hefty craft beer scene with a bunch of local breweries and beer halls for residents and guests alike to take their pick. Starting this Sunday, the Craft Brewers Conference is coming into town; the conference will be on May 7-10, and you can learn more and register for the event here. (WPLN)
- A couple of women shared their experiences with Nashville police officers hoping their stories will prompt other women to be mindful when walking alone. On Tuesday, a young woman was walking her dog on a trail at William Pitts Park in nearby Antioch when a stranger suddenly appeared behind her and assaulted her. A similar situation occurred to another woman on Wednesday by the same aggressor. Both women were able to escape the situation without injuries. The suspect has been identified as Louis Felipe Martinez, and he was arrested and charged with felony kidnapping. (News Channel 5 Nashville)
- Jeffery L. Thorpe, a 24-year-old man, has been arrested and charged with reckless homicide and felony child neglect in the 2021 shooting death of his 2-year-old son. The child died on Nov. 6, 2021, after accidentally shooting himself in the head with a pistol left on the bed by his father. Thorpe also faces charges of aggravated assault, theft, resisting arrest, and trespassing and is currently jailed in the Downtown Detention Center. (WSMV 4)
