Davidson County Unemployment Climbs, Still Among State's Best
Davidson County continues to hold the lowest unemployment rate among Tennessee's four largest metros.

NASHVILLE, TN — Davidson County's unemployment rate climbed to 2.7 percent in January, up 0.3 percent from December, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development, but remains the state's second lowest.
The unemployment rate rose in all 95 counties, as is typical for January.
Of the ten lowest county-level figures statewide, nine were in Middle Tennessee. The lowest figure belongs to Williamson County at 2.5 percent. Cheatham County matched Davidson County's figure.

Davidson County is tops among the state's four largest metros, besting Knoxville's Knox County (3.1 percent), Chattanooga's Hamilton County (3.6 percent) and Memphis' Shelby County (4.3 percent).
Davidson County's unemployment rate dropped 0.9 percent from January 2017.

The state rate, reported last week, is 3.3 percent, unchanged from December's adjusted figure.
