Davidson County Unemployment Rate Drops In August

The unemployment rate fell in all 95 of Tennessee's counties, with Davidson County's down 0.3 percent from July.

NASHVILLE, TN — Davidson County's unemployment rate fell to 2.7 percent in August, down 0.4 percent from July, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development. The jobless rate fell in all 95 Tennessee counties last month.

Davidson County's rate is better than every other county in the state, tied with Williamson County. Of the ten lowest county-level figures statewide, nine were in Middle Tennessee. Davidson County is tops among the state's four largest metros, besting Knoxville's Knox County (3.2 percent), Chattanooga's Hamilton County (3.6 percent) and Memphis' Shelby County (4.2 percent).

No Tennessee county has a rate higher than 6 percent.

The state rate, reported last week, is 3.3 percent, down 0.1 percent from July's adjusted figure.
