Dickson Dad Killed Trying To Help Son On Interstate

A 30-year-old father of five died Friday after he was hit by a car on I-40 while trying to help his child.

NASHVILLE, TN — A man killed on Interstate 40 Friday was a 30-year-old father of five who was running to help his son when he was hit by a car.

Shaun Andexler of Dickson and his family had been in Nashville celebrating his son's 9th birthday. As they were driving home, Andexler noticed the car behind him — which contained his son, Jaden — rolling off the road and towards the woods. He pulled over and began running back to the car.

At mile marker 190, near the Cheatham-Davidson county line, Andexler was hit by a car driven by a 22-year-old Michigan man. Andexler died on the scene.

No one else was injured.

Andexler did not have life insurance and a GoFundMe page has been set up to help defray the costs of the funeral.
