- The Fourth of July was marked by four different shootings in Nashville that killed three people, including a teenager, and left one person injured. The first incident occurred at 2:00 p.m. on the 1600 block of Lebanon Pike and resulted in one fatality. At 4:30 p.m., a teenager was killed at the Fallbrook Apartments, and metro police say they have "strong leads" in the case. Around 7:20 p.m., a shooting on the 2400 block of Buena Vista Pike caused one fatality, and at 10:00 p.m., one person was injured by a shooting on Korean Veterans Boulevard. (WKRN)
- Multiple locations of two Nashville coffee shops remain closed due to unexpected terminations and unsuccessful union negotiations. Employees of Barista Parlor and Three Brothers Coffee say that baristas have concerns about the city's coffee industry due to low or stolen wages, closures, and terminations. Locations of the coffee shops have been closed since mid-June, when the Coffee Workers of the South United decided to strike. Employees of Three Brothers Coffee are members of the union, and they say that management has refused to raise wages to the employee-requested $16 per hour. (Tennessee Lookout)
- The family of a gun violence victim protested against the police yesterday. Alex Delgado, 16, was fatally shot in January 2023 while driving in South Nashville. The family is frustrated by the lack of progress in the police investigation. Aniceto Lara-Hernandez, Delgado's father, said the march from IHOP on Harding Place — where Delgado pulled in his car after being shot — was to keep Alex's memory alive and raise awareness about his unsolved shooting.
