A 19-year-old wanted for burglary and the attempted murder of a Nashville police officer was arrested in Clarksville.

NASHVILLE, TN — Clarksville Police arrested a 19-year-old Friday wanted on four charges in Nashville, including the attempted of a police officer

Last week, the Davidson County grand jury indicted Tonie Buchanan for attempted murder of a police officer, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, and gun possession during the commission of a felony connected to a home invasion on Hermosa Street July 6. He will be transferred to Nashville in the coming days.

Detectives say three gunmen allegedly forced their way inside the home after a woman inside refused to let them in. The woman called 911 while hiding in a closet. Officer John Tyree arrived to see three armed men running out of the home's front door.

After taking cover, Tyree ordered the men to stop. Police allege Buchanan turned and fired at Tyree. No one was hit and Tyree did not return fire.

Buchanan's alleged accomplices — James Woodard Jr., 21, and Dandre Whitley, 19 — were indicted along with Buchanan Sept. 22. Woodard and Whitley were arrested Sept. 30 and remain jailed.
