Here are the top three stories in Nashville today:

  1. Nashville's famous "Home of the Fritter" is looking to close its doors soon, as Hermitage House Smorgasbord announced in a Facebook post that its impending closure. Located on Lebanon Pike, Hermitage House has been open for nearly 50 years with the Prosser family serving Southern-style food since 1975. The restaurant is known for its "home-like setting" it has provided for guests over the years. An official closing date has not yet been announced. (WKRN News 2)
  2. The Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) is hosting a $100 million fundraising campaign to collect funding for a new facility. The center received $200 million last year from the state budget and is expecting $300 million next year. Although the location for the new center has not been determined yet, it will be located on the East Bank near the recently-approved Titans Stadium. (Axios)
  3. David Neal, the hotel manager of the Nashville Hilton Hotel, was arrested at his home in Lebanon this past Friday after a guest woke up to Neal sucking on his toes. It was reported that Neal created a keycard to enter the guest room on Mar. 30 at around 5:00 a.m. The suspect told officers he entered the room because of the smell of smoke. The victim noted that Neal entered the room the day prior due to a television issue that he helped resolve. Neal was charged with aggravated burglary and assault from the incident. (WTVC)

  • The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department wants to give a shout-out to all the sober and safe drivers in the city throughout the weekend for making this busy weekend as safe as possible. Many different agencies came together to conduct sobriety checkpoints throughout the city all weekend to safely and successfully regulate the roads.   • On Wednesday, May 24, Maplewood High School will be sending off their graduating seniors in the Municipal Auditorium at 6:00 p.m. The graduation ceremony will be led by Valedictorian T'Kiah Carter and Salutatorian Sheryll Vestal.
