Labor Day 2017: What's Closed, What's Open In Nashville

Here's a roundup of what's open and what's closed on Labor Day in Nashville.

NASHVILLE, TN — In America, Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer, even though the kids have been in school a few weeks, it may still be 90 degrees some days and scientists insist summer doesn't end until later in September.

This year, Labor Day is Monday, Sept. 4. Being a federal holiday, it means a day off work and school and government offices and banks are closed.

Here's what will be open and closed in Nashville:

  • Metro Offices – Closed
  • Libraries – Closed
  • Liquor Stores – Closed. Wine cannot be sold in grocery stores either, so stock up on wine and liquor on Saturday, as, of course, neither can be purchased on Sunday
  • Recreation – Hours vary at Metro Parks pools and community centers, so call ahead. It is the last day of the season at Wave Country and Metro Parks-operated outdoor pools.
  • MTA — Buses will run on the Sunday/Holiday schedule. Neither RTA-operated express buses nor the Music City Star will run
  • Trash pickup – Trash collection continues as normal, however convenience centers are closed.
  • Parking is free at curbside meters.
  • MNPS Schools and Administrative Offices – Closed
  • State offices and courts – Closed
