Here are the top three stories in Nashville today:

  1. According to an affidavit, on Mar. 2, 38-year-old James Standefir was involved in an incident where he reportedly ordered his dog to attack a security guard in downtown Nashville. The security guard was working on private property when he noticed Standefir loitering and requested that he leave the grounds. Standefir began to argue with the security guard and then ordered the dog to attack. The guard used pepper spray to defend himself before Standefir pulled out a machete and shortly after fled from the scene. Standefir was arrested and is set to appear in court on May 17. (WSMV 4)
  2. Joseph Farmer, 36, is currently in custody after he and another man allegedly raped a Western Kentucky University student after a night out in Nashville. Investigators responded to MNPD's Madison precinct when a victim came in claiming that she was drugged and raped several times when out with a friend at Honky Tonk Central on Broadway. The victim told investigators that she remembers being in a vehicle with two men she didn't recognize, being raped, and going to the bank with the two where money was withdrawn from her bank account. When Farmer was taken into custody by the police, he claimed the sex with the victim was consensual. He is currently being held and is not eligible for release due to warrants in other counties. (WSMV 4)
  3. Over the weekend, Metro police arrested a 59-year-old man for trespassing into a stranger's home in Antioch who claimed he had permission to come in and take a nap. A woman at home with her children received an unexpected surprise Sunday as a man entered their home through the front door while yelling before running into the bathroom. The confused woman quickly locked her children in a bedroom for safety and called 911, alerting them of the situation. When officers arrived at the home on Anderson Road the man was lying on the bathroom floor, he told officers he had permission to be at the home but both the residents and landlord denied knowing the individual.
