Man Clears North Nashville Popeye's With Bomb Threat: Police
A 31-year-old man told patrons at the Jefferson Street Popeye's he planned to bomb the restaurant, police say.

NASHVILLE, TN -- A North Nashville restaurant cleared out Tuesday after a man claimed he had a bomb, according to police.
Metro Police say 31-year-old Michael Newsome walked into the Popeye's on Jefferson Street and said everyone needed to leave before he set off a bomb.

"I ain't leaving. I got a bomb. Y'all need to leave," Newsome said, according to witnesses. Despite his assertion he'd remain, Newsome left the restaurant when everyone else did. Police located him at a nearby gas station.
Newsome was not carrying any weapons nor were any bombs - real or ersatz - discovered at the Popeye's. Police charged Newsome with filing a false report and disorderly conduct.
