Metro Police say a man broke into Trattoria Il Mulino early Thursday and attempted to steal beer and cash.

NASHVILLE, TN -- A man tried stealing cash from the register and beer straight from the tap at a downtown restaurant early Thursday morning, according to Metro Nashville Police.
Security guards at the Hilton on Fifth Avenue called police, saying they saw a man breaking into Trattoria Il Mulino, a restaurant attached to the hotel and across from Bridgestone Arena, via the tarp windows fronting Fifth. Officers say when they arrived, Edward Johnson Jr., 46, was behind the bar, attempting to get cash out of the register and beer from the taps.
Police said there were indications Johnson was intoxicated. He reportedly told police he was trying to get something to eat.
