Metro Nashville Schools Closed Friday, Sept. 1

The remnants of Hurricane Harvey will give Metro Schools students a four-day Labor Day weekend.

NASHVILLE, TN — Metro Nashville Public Schools will be closed Friday, Sept. 1 due to the inclement weather and flooding from the remnants of Hurricane Harvey, the district announced early Friday, giving students a four-day Labor Day weekend.

Though waters were receding, most roads were open and power had been restored to 90 percent of people who experienced outages Thursday, MNPS opted, acting out of an abundance of caution, to keep kids at home.
