Gooooooooooal: Nashville Scores MLS Team, Announcement Wednesday
It's all over but the shouting as MLS officials are expected in Music City Wednesday, signaling the city will join the league.

NASHVILLE, TN -- Top Major League Soccer officials will be in Nashville Wednesday for an event hosted by the group aiming to bring an expansion franchise to the Music City, a certain signal that Nashville has been selected to join the league.
MLS2Nashville will host a media event and reception at the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum at 4 p.m. Wednesday with team investors, league officials, Mayor Megan Barry and Gov. Bill Haslam.
The league met last week with the four finalist cities - Sacramento, Cincinnati and Detroit are the other three - and indicated the actual expansion announcements would occur in the selected cities themselves.

Nashville's hopes cleared a key hurdle Monday as a Davidson County Chancellor dismissed a bid for an injunction against the stadium by fairgrounds supporters who said plans to build the stadium there would violate the terms of a 2011 Metro Charter amendment. The quest for an injunction was a long-shot, but nevertheless a hoop for Metro to jump through.
Nashville began the expansion process as a bit of longshot itself, as more than a dozen cities applied to join the league in two rounds of expansion, but as other cities struggled with stadium plans, negotiations between Metro and team officials were largely without contretemps. The city's profile grew even further after successful games at Nissan Stadium involving the U.S. and Mexican men's national teams and English Premier League clubs.
