Murdered Man Killed High School Student: Nashville Police
A man shot dead in early January is now suspected of killing a Hillsboro High student during a home invasion in December.

NASHVILLE, TN -- A 20-year-old man found shot dead in a car in North Nashville in January may be the man who killed a Hillsboro High School student who was trying to protect his family during a December home invasion, police said.
Davario Kendricks, 20, was shot and killed near the intersection of 16th Avenue and Jefferson Street Jan. 6. Police have charged two men - 23-year-old James Moore Jr. and 43-year-old Gregory Justice - with his murder.
After seeing reports of Kendricks’ murder, the parents of Ja’Donte Thompson contacted the lead investigator in their son's murder and picked Kendricks out of a photo lineup, insisting he is the man who killed their 17-year-old son.

According to police, two men kicked their way into the Capitol Point residence Ja'Donte shared with his mother, step-father and grandfather just before midnight Dec. 5. In an effort to protect his family, Ja’Donte scuffled with one of the men, now believed to be Kendricks, and was fatally shot.
The investigation continues as detectives work to identify Kendricks' alleged accomplice.
