Nashville Man Gets 9 Years For Shooting At Car With Kids Inside

A Nashville man faces nine years in federal prison after pleading guilty to firearms charges in a September 2016 shooting.

NASHVILLE, TN -- A Nashville man will spend nine years in federal prison on gun charges connected a shooting at the James Cayce Homes in September 2016.

Antonio Eugene "Tony T" Boyd, 38, of Nashville, Tennessee, was sentenced following a May guilty plea on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

“The reckless actions of this defendant placed the lives of many school aged children in great peril,” said United States Attorney Don Cochran in a statement. “Armed felons have no place in our communities and we are aggressively increasing our efforts along with our law enforcement partners to remove those who pose such a grave danger to our law abiding citizens.”

On Sept. 15, 2016, Boyd fired seven shots from a 9mm pistol at a car with two adults and child inside. There were also numerous children in the vicinity coming home from school. No one was injured.

Investigators determined Boyd's pistol had been stolen by another person and Boyd had traded cocaine for the gun. Boyd had previous convictions for robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm, along with two drug-related felonies.
